Methodology to optimize rear axle drive gear operating performance

This paper describes a methodology to analyze the operating performance of rear axle drive gears under influence of production deviations. The methodology enables to understand the influences of production variation and dynamic operating conditions in an early phase of development. Moreover, it allows systematic design optimization of bevel gears, using a combination of statistical methods (Design of Experiments, Monte-Carlo Analysis), CAD models and CAE models.
